The only unavailable location was Winfield House, the real-life residence of the American ambassador
Story
In the midst of an international crisis, career diplomat Kate Wyler finds herself in a high-level job she is not suited for, with tectonic implications for her marriage and political future. The producers convinced the American and British governments to let them use real-world locations as filming locations for the series, including the newly opened American Embassy (in Nine Elms) in 2018. Britain allowed filming inside the Foreign Secretary’s office, an honor rarely granted for a film or movie production, especially an American one.
I loved every second of it
Although it is accurately described as occupying the largest residential plot (11 acres) in London after Buckingham Palace, the producers used a country house outside the city for filming purposes. Featured in the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards (2024). I binge-watched The Night Agent, thinking it couldn’t get any better than this, but I was wrong.
So cerebral and riveting
Everything you could want in a show. The characters and acting were first class. It was great to see the delightful Rufus Sewell again, and what a role he played, never knowing what he’s going to do next.
She played it to perfection
Keri Russell was simply magnificent as the Ambassador. I also loved David Gyasi. Overall, a wonderful show, a little short maybe, but well worth watching.
The best political show since The West Wing
Excellent!
