Michael Schur was inspired to create "A Man On the Inside" after watching the Chilean documentary "The Mole Agent"
Story
Charles, a retiree, gets a new lease on life by answering a private investigator’s ad and becomes a mole in an undercover investigation at a nursing home. He says, "The Mole Agent" documentary is powerful because it makes people feel something very similar to people of any age, ethnicity, or gender, and I would describe that feeling in a very reductive way as, “I need to call my mom.” In our show, we tried to do something similar with the tone: does our show encourage that feeling of wanting to call our moms?
The Mole Agent remake (2020)
I love Ted Danson! And he played a very good Widower, who is stuck in the routine of grieving after the loss of his wife.
It’s also hilarious and silly in typical Danson style
The show is heartwarming and depicts the companionship both family and friends need as they grow older, especially after the loss of a loved one. It’s easy to watch, easy to laugh at with touching moments, and I can’t wait for season two!
And it doesn’t hurt to have a great cast!
It starts off quick and easy to get into and easily watch all 8 episodes. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys silly comedies but also wants something to feel good about.
