In the midst of an international crisis, Kate Wyler, a professional diplomat, gets a high-profile job for which she is unsuited, which has tectonic consequences for her marriage and her political future. The producers convinced the American and amp; The British government allowed them to use real-world locations as locations for the series, including the newly built American Embassy (in Nine Elms), which opened in 2018. Britain allowed filming in the office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, which is rarely granted.
The only place not accessible was Winfield House, the actual residence of the American ambassador. Although it is accurately described that it occupies the largest plot of residential land (11 acres) in London, excluding Buckingham Palace, the producers used a country house outside the city for filming. The characters are phenomenally written, and all of them are to some extent a mystery. Their dialogues are dynamic and fascinating, and the storyline continues to develop in chaotic political directions.
It does not have a strong tone, as in other similar shows. I want to compare it a bit to House of Cards, but it doesn’t quite fit the bill. There is a hint of Continuity in it, but again, it doesn’t quite fit. I see reviews complaining about the main character, her disheveled appearance and sharp behavior, but this is her hole!
“You need people in power who don’t *want* to be in power.” Kate is focused on the mission and the business, where people’s lives hang in the balance. What she is wearing, how she looks and even when she sleeps – all this is secondary to the main mission. I think her style fits the narrative perfectly and it was a refreshing change of pace. The best part of the series is the relationship they all have with each other.
I rarely like all the characters in the series, but this one helped me.

It is not surprising that in Windows 11, the developers transformed it again, but not so much in functional terms as in visual terms: the Start window will float above the bottom bar. We have to admit that this small change makes the system look much fresher. According to information circulating on the network, Microsoft will not radically change the “inside” of this menu – the innovations will affect only the design of the window itself. The control panel will also float, and its design will be exactly the same as that of the “Start” one. The action center will be combined with the control buttons – a similar one has been used for a long time in other operating systems.
Almost all mentions of this new menu indicate that it will be an island: the control buttons will be located on a separate panel, notifications will be on another, and specific elements (such as a player) – on a separate one. In truth, insiders and conceptual designers do not agree on this point: some are confident that Microsoft will not change its traditions and will keep the right angles, while others are convinced that in 2021 Microsoft will follow the fashion of fillets. The latter fits better with the definition of “completely new Windows” – floating menus are not enough for a new design to be considered truly new. The fillets are expected to affect practically the entire system, from context menus and system panels to all application windows. True, even on this issue, the opinions of concept designers differ: some draw fillets on all possible interface elements, others combine them with right angles.
There is disagreement on the web about the island style of displaying windows, the design of corners, and the levitation effect of the menu, but almost everyone is unanimous about the transparency of windows. The vast majority of design leaks and renders show transparency and blur on all windows, be it at least the Start menu or Explorer. Moreover, these effects are even present in the assembly of the canceled Windows 10X operating system, which Microsoft was developing for devices with two screens and weak gadgets in parallel with the Sun Valley project.
